Jesus Christ

Col 1:13  "Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:"

Col 1:14  "In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:"

Col 1:3  "We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you,"

Col 1:4  "Since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye have to all the saints,"

Col 1:5  "For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel;"

Col 1:6  "Which is come unto you, as it is in all the world; and bringeth forth fruit,

We are set apart to bring forth fruit

Jesus said . . .

John 15:16 

"Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit ... "

We should be like the seed that ....

Mark 4:8 " ... fell on good ground, and did yield fruit that sprang up and increased; and brought forth, some thirty, and some sixty, and some an hundred."

So . . .

Acts 12:24 

" ... the word of God grew and multiplied."

Look again at verse 6

Col 1:6 

"Which is come unto you, as it is in all the world;

What has come unto you
"the word of the truth of the Gospel"

in verse 5

and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it,

Faith in the Gospel comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.

and knew the grace of God in truth:"

Oh, knowing the Grace of God having your heart opened like Lydia's was

Where as we used to be possibly a seller of Purple like Lydia
is some city like Thyatira like Lydia
maybe already worshippers of God like Lydia

But God opened our heart like Lydia
and we saw the blessed Gospel
and believed on Christ
not just in Christ
but on Christ
and the Old Man
was kicked out
and the New Man created
and began to know the Grace of God in Truth and Now we are waiting on the Return of Christ by the Grace of God and most certainly in Truth of which of course we shall not be ashamed

Oh, do you remember when you attempted to worship God and fell flat of your face????

Do you remember when you heard the truth??
it was only by the Grace of God

Well may this glowing heart rejoice and tell its raptures all abroad

Knowing the Grace of God in truth and also knowing the Will of God . . .

Col 1:9 "For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;"

Paul prayed that the folks there at Collasse would gain the Knowledge of God's Will and gain it in wisdom and spiritual understanding not just know it exists but
know the wisdom of it
know the understanding of it
know the person of it
knowing God's Will and also knowing God's purpose for His will

We are not the children of Darkness
But the children of light

Paul said, don't receive the

"Grace of God in vain."

Look at verse 10

Col 1:10 "That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;"

We are not living at a time Like the days of Daniel when ....

Dan 12:4 " ... Daniel, shut up the words, and sealed the book, even to the time of the end ... "

No, we live in a time when the words are spoken and the book is open, another time like Daniel's is coming and it is only as far away as the last person to be saved,
but our time is now and now is the time to open the Word of God and speak as the Oracles of God so others may have Knowledge of God as well

Col 1:12  "Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:"

Now in verse 13 it changes from the Father to the Son and begins to describe Him

Col 1:15  "Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:"

Jesus is what the Father looks like.
He does what the Father does.
He thinks like the Father thinks.
He loves like the Father loves.

Col 1:16  "For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:"

Jesus made all things for Himself
Real Intangible Forces

Col 1:17  "And he is before all things, and by him all things consist."

Jesus is the
Support
Sustainer
Sustenance

Col 1:18  "And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence."

Jesus is the Leader
He is the first and foremost
He is the thinking and knowing part of the Church
He has the supremacy and superiority

Col 1:19  "For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;"

Jesus is the completer
No matter what area we may lack, He has the ability to fill and make full.

Col 1:20  "And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven."

Col 1:21  "And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled"

Jesus brings us together with God
He squares us with the Father
He settles are the accounts
He forgives all the debts

Col 1:22  "In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:"

Jesus is our Perfector
He makes us holy when we are not holy
He makes us unchargeable when we are guilty

Col 1:27  "To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:"

Jesus is our Hope of Glory to come.
Hope is assurance of that our faith is not in vain.

Col 2:3  "In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge."

Jesus knows all

Jesus Christ is all we need
He is everything we need.
He is the thing we need.
He is the only thing we need.
