Jesus is GodDivinity Of Jesus ChristScripture John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." Text John 1:1 "...and the Word was God." What is the big stir about?
Going to go through a little Theology today
I realize that probably everyone seated in this auditorium
But one day
That Jesus was not God
You may even come to the conclusion, yourself
That is probably one of the most damning statements of our time.
The problem is this,
If you do not do what Jesus says to do
If you are one of His own
And,
There is no point doing what He says to do
But He is not just another whatever
The Word is Jesus Christ John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."
We can readily see that the Word is God and God is the Word.
Please look at John 1.14 John 1:14 "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, Now we are making some headway. Now we are getting to the bottom of the matter John 1:14 "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth."
The Word was born of flesh
Everyone at the time saw the Word and He had the same Glory as God the Father.
Go back to John 1.1 please ... John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."
There are some
They do not understand Greek Grammar
John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was "a" God."
They do this
This sounds like to me a much bigger problem.
John 1:14 " ... (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth."
Jesus Christ is the Only Begotten of the Father.
Please turn to John 5.18 John 5:18 "Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God."
These Jews
These Jews understood exactly what this meant
We ought to not listen to what man thinks
Jesus and the Father are One
John 10:27 "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:"
The Jews fully understood the words ...
God's Blood Brought close by the Blood of Christ Eph 2:13 "But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ." Jesus Christ brought us in close by His Blood Redemption & Forgiveness by the Blood of Christ
Col 1:12 "Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:"
Jesus Christ has redeemed us from slavery and sin, and has forgiven us of our sin through His own Blood.
We were purged from our sins and brought close to God by the blood of Jesus Christ.
Heb 9:12 "Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us."
The sacrifices of animals will not save anyone.
How was all this accomplished?
Redeemed from the slavery of sin by the Blood of Jesus Christ.
1 Pet 1:18 "Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;"
The blood of Jesus Christ redeemed us from the slavery of sin and even sin itself. Cleansed from the stain of sin, by the blood of Jesus Christ 1 John 1:7 "But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin." Not only has the blood of Christ redeemed us and forgiven us but has cleansed us as well How was all of this accomplished?
By Jesus Christ
Now watch this verse please turn to Acts 20.25 ... Paul is speaking ... Acts 20:25 "And now, behold, I know that ye all, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, shall see my face no more." Paul is leaving and they will not see him again this is just part of the context but has nothing to do with my point ... Acts 20:26 "Wherefore I take you to record this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men."
Again Paul is saying in context here
Acts 20:27 "For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God."
Paul has been faithful
Especially the next verse Acts 20:28 "Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood."
The men to whom Paul is speaking are to do the same as he did.
They are to feed the Church of God
It says here in this sacred book that God's blood was used to redeem man from slavery to sin.
How could this be???
It could only happen
Image of God
Col 1:15 "Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:"
Jesus was the form of God
Equal means the same, identical
Fullness of the Godhead, bodily Col 2:9 "For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily."
Jesus is the fullness of the Godhead
Honor the Father and the Son John 5:23 "That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him." Whatever honor that is due to the Father is due to the Son
Whatever good that can be said of the Father must be said of the Son
In the beginning with God John 1:2 "The same was in the beginning with God." My Lord and My God
John 20:26 "And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you."
Throughout the divine Word every thing is gradually revealed
An angel first declares the glorious event
The empty sepulchre confirms the women's report.
Christ's appearance to Mary Magdalene showed that he was alive.
The disciples on the road to Emmaus realized Jesus walked with them.
To the eleven
Everything is explained gradually, in order, at the proper time.
Do you believe? John 20:29 "Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed."
Have you fully trusted in the Son of God?
